Reader in Future Power Systems
Email: robin.preece@manchester.ac.uk

I am a Reader in Future Power Systems within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester. I’ve been at the university since 2005 when I started my BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering With Industrial Experience degree. I graduated in 2009 and then started my PhD in Power Systems Dynamics which I received at the start of 2013 (my thesis has been published by Springer here). Following 18 months of post-doctoral work as a Research Associate, I started as a Lecturer in July 2014.

I have experience working at, and consulting with, DNOs and TSOs on individual projects and collaborative work on a large number of projects – primarily on the dynamic impact of integrating new technologies and power electronics into large systems. I am an active member of the IET, IEEE and Cigre and regularly review papers for conferences and leading academic journals. I have more than 60 international publications (details here) and have spoken at the leading power system conferences around the world.
