Dr Stephen Haben

Senior Data Science Consultant

Stephen is a Senior Data Science Consultant at the Energy Systems Catapult. He is focused on optimising the utilisation of AI across the energy sector, and helping bridge the gap between academia and industry. This work includes identifying barriers and enablers for applying AI, such as data accessibility, knowledge transfer, and skills. Stephen currently works on the AI for Decarbonisation’s Virtual Centre for Excellence, curating a list of grand challenges which will have major impact on the UK’s Net Zero ambitions. He also hosts the “Value in Energy Data” webinar series, and is a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford. Prior to joining the Catapult in 2018, Stephen was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford where he researches data science in energy systems, particularly load forecasting methods. He received his PhD from the University of Reading in 2011 in numerical weather prediction.
