Tim is a Supergen Energy Networks Research Fellow based in the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) at the University of Leeds. His work for Supergen focusses on governance, decision-making and just transitions in relation to energy networks. He is a social scientist whose previous research has explored decentralised approaches to governing resources and mitigating climate change, often with a focus on ownership and finance. This includes studies of finance and the decarbonisation of social housing, city level climate action in the UK and internationally, community and local energy business models, alternative finance and crowdfunding, and community land ownership in Scotland. Prior to joining the SRI he was a Research Fellow at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at the University of Manchester, and he has also held research posts at the Overseas Development Institute, the University of the Highlands and Islands, and Leeds Beckett University.
